Operations during postal service delaysNotice of Hearing: Canada Post has issued an alert to customers indicating that it is working to stabilize operations and has a backlog of lettermail, resulting in lengthy delays in delivery. As a result, those who are in the area of the development will not receive mailed Notice of Hearings during disruption to postal service. Please refer to the Calgary Herald newspaper, or the Calgary Subdivision and Development Appeal Board website for up-to-date information about appeals and hearings.
Appeal submissions: Submissions about a matter under appeal may be emailed to email@example.com, or hand-delivered or couriered to Fourth floor, 1212 - 31 Avenue N.E., Deerfoot Junction 3 Building (DJ3 Bldg.), during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Free parking is available in the stalls designated "Reserved for City of Calgary".
Appeal decisions: Decisions are emailed to appeal participants and observers who sign up to receive them. Decisions are also available at the CanLII website.
The Calgary Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB or Board) is a quasi-judicial board established in accordance with the Municipal Government Act and The City of Calgary Bylaw 25P95 (SDAB Bylaw).
The SDAB hears appeals regarding decisions made by The City of Calgary subdivision and development authorities and renders decisions based on the evidence presented.
The Board is independent from The City of Calgary Planning Department and is comprised of citizen members. The SDAB makes decisions in an impartial manner and applies the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness, which includes but is not limited to: the right to a public hearing; a duty to be fair; the right for all affected parties to be heard; the right to an adjournment if the SDAB determines it is merited; and the right to legal counsel.
